How it works: the prefold (cotton) goes against baby and gets washed every change; the cover (waterproof) is reused a few times before washing. We use disposables for the first few newborn weeks, then cloth full-time.

What we'd buy with more time — organic
Certified-organic cotton (grown without synthetic pesticides, also unbleached) is the cleanest choice. We'd have gone OsoCozy — same idea, one notch better fabric. The catch: it doesn't ship overnight, so we ran out of time before traveling.
